Dr. Shabana Fayyaz as
Principal, Kaizen High

Dr. Shabana Fayyaz, our head of school is well renowned in academic circles as the Head of Department of Defence and Strategic Studies, Quaid-e-Azam University. She is a firm believer in equality and female empowerment and has practiced these values in her own life, fearlessly pursuing harsh subject matter in her intellectual journey. As an academic and policy practitioner in Pakistan, she’s authored books on Pakistan’s response to terrorism, written about Human Security Challenges as well as religious extremism in South Asia alongside the role of women in post-conflict reconstruction and rehabilitation.

Role in Kaizen High:

As a member of the school’s Board of Directors and the School Superintendent at Kaizen High & Junior School, Dr. Shabana oversees several important tasks including hiring staff, managing budgets, monitoring student success, and developing a vision for Kaizen.

Waqar Ahmed Sheikh

Waqar Ahmed Sheikh is a driven, logic-oriented and empathetic individual with a two-decade career spanning development, corporate and public interest platforms. Before his Masters from Columbia University’s SIPA program, he was a Chevening Scholar pursuing Masters from University of Nottingham, following his passion for development across the world. His interest in communal good is evident in his work with Governing Board of Punjab Employees Social Security Institution (PESSI) and Punjab Food Authority (PFA) while he demonstrates his dedication to climate change as CEO of Collect and Recycle (CORE), the first packaging and recycling alliance in Pakistan.

Role in Kaizen High:

As a member of the school’s Board of Directors and the School Superintendent at Kaizen High & Junior School, Waqar Ahmed Sheikh oversees several important tasks including hiring staff, managing budgets, monitoring student success, and developing a vision for Kaizen.

Dr. Shireen Mushtaq

Dr. Shireen Mushtaq is a versatile woman with a passion for international relations and multiculturalism. Her decade-long career testifies to this both during her pursuit of a Ph.D in International Relations and now as an academic guiding graduate and post-graduate level students on such subject matter. She has authored many papers on the plight of minorities in countries ranging from Turkey to Myanmar. Whether it’s looking at the local geo-political sphere with papers like “The Proximity of US-Indian Interest in Afghanistan and Its Implication on Pakistan (2018)” to her most recent “Securitization of the refugee problem in Germany: the Far Right Challenge to government policies” proposing the need for acceptance and inclusion of those who are different, regardless of what unique identity or ethnicity is in play.

Role in Kaizen High:

As a member of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Shireen Mushtaq has a vision of creating leaders of tomorrow who know the value of diversity and compassion. Imagining a world where labels attached to individuals or groups due to circumstance of birth or community do not define terror or insecurities, Dr. Shireen brings broad-scoped perspectives to Kaizen High School’s purpose.

After graduating from Kempbelle University with a MA in Communications, Harriet Erickson served as the director of Freshman and Transfer Programs before becoming the Vice President for Student Affairs. Holding both a BA and MA degree in Communications from Kempbelle University, Harriet Erikson has spent much of her professional life at the College.

Wesley Clark was named Senior Advisor to the President in May 2018. An expert in corporate law, he teaches a wide range of courses including Contracts, Sales, Closely Held Business Organizations, Publicly Traded Corporations, Mergers & Acquisitions, International Law and International Securities Regulation.

Senior Advisor to the President

Betty Bowman joined the faculty in 2002, and received tenure there in 2007. Before joining the faculty, she was a visiting assistant professor at Syracuse University College of Law. Prior to that, she was a legal consultant with JPMorgan Chase; a contract attorney for Cravath, Swaine & Moore; and an assistant prosecutor for the Ministry of the Attorney General in Toronto, Canada.

With over four decades of law teaching experience, Johnny Jones is a nationally-recognized constitutionalist who has received numerous awards for his teaching, including the first-ever Pioneer Award for his commitment and dedication to students from the FIU Student Bar Association in 2004. Since then, students have voted him “Professor of the Year” multiple times.

Dennis Ruiz was a member of the faculty at Texas Tech University School of Law, where she held the Alvin R. Allison Distinguished Professorship and received every teaching award the law school and the University conferred. She was the Distinguished Fulbright Professor of American Constitutional Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Greece in 1992.

Vernon Lowe first joined the University in 2006 as Assistant Dean for Academic Support Programs. He served as Assistant Dean until 2013, when he became a full time lecturer at the College. He teaches classes relating to legal theory and reasoning, race and law, gender and law, and in the area of commercial transactions.
